IEEE Canara Engineering College



The IEEE is the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology. It has a global membership more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries; 45 percent of whom are from outside the United States. There are more than 100,000 student members and 331 sections in ten geographic regions worldwide. There are 1,952 chapters that unite local members with similar technical interests. IEEE has 1,855 student branches in 80 countries with 483 student branch chapters at colleges and universities. Also 338 affinity groups – IEEE Affinity Groups are non-technical sub-units of one or more Sections or a Council. The Affinity Group patent entities are the IEEE-USA Consultants’ Network, Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD), Women in Engineering (WIE) and Life Members (LM).The IEEE has 38 societies and 7 technical councils representing the wide range of technical interests.It also has more than 2.5 million documents in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library with more than 7 million downloads each month.At IEEE 1,300 standards and projects under development, it publishes 148 transactions, journals and magazines.Also sponsors over 1,100 conferences in 73 countries.It has 10 Sections & 5 sub-Sections in India under Region 10 (Asia Pacific).Also the India Office at Bangalore was recently opened


The IEEE Student Branch at Canara Engineering College was started in Dec’06. We actively organize/take part in various technical and leadership activities. Our aim is to instill a culture of professionalism in students.

Women In Engineering (WIE) student branch affinity group was inaugurated in our college during 2009 by Dr. Y. V. S. Lakshmi, IEEE-WIE Bangalore Section Chair.

We are collaborating with nearby Government Schools & Societies to use technology as a means to further education.
